At Impact Signs, we were proud to be part of Bringing The Quantum Towers to Life at The Grand Arcade, a unique project that combined large-format printing, precision structure building, and a truly imaginative artistic vision. Recently, we had the pleasure of working with artist Sheefali Asija on her latest public sculpture, The Quantum Towers, which is now on display in Cambridge’s Grand Arcade.
This striking installation is far more than a sculpture. Sheefali describes it as a sculptural reimagining of the Periodic Table, where elements become characters, electrons shape architecture, and children – along with curious adults – can step inside the fabric of the universe. It is a bold, imaginative piece that blurs the lines between science, art, and storytelling.
Turning vision into reality
Our role at Impact Signs was to take Sheefali’s creative vision and turn it into a physical, durable, and visually stunning installation. We built the 3D structures that form the towers, using our expertise to ensure every detail was strong, precise, and safe for public interaction.
We used our large-format printing capabilities to bring Sheefali’s colourful designs to life. Her style is instantly recognisable—bright, bold, and heavily influenced by Manga art. Each character, representing a different element from the Periodic Table, needed to be reproduced with complete accuracy and vibrancy. Large-format printing was the perfect solution for achieving crisp lines, saturated colours, and an impactful finish on a large scale.
The art–science connection
Sheefali believes that art represents to an artist what science does to a scientist—a way to make observations about the world and to find new perspectives on familiar concepts. The Quantum Towers perfectly reflect this idea.
The installation turns the scientific structure of the periodic table into an interactive, walk-through experience, offering children and adults alike the chance to explore science in an entirely different way. It is designed to inspire curiosity, spark conversations, and encourage people to see the magic in the building blocks of our universe.

A collaborative success
Working alongside Sheefali meant more than simply reproducing her designs. We needed to understand the feeling and wonder she wanted people to experience when they saw and explored the sculpture. From the first build concept to the final printed panels, our team ensured that the installation stayed true to her vision.
The Grand Arcade is an ideal home for The Quantum Towers, allowing thousands of visitors to enjoy and interact with the piece. It now stands as a vibrant and educational landmark in the heart of Cambridge.
